OFF REGISTRY BABY GIFT IDEAS

When it comes to baby gifts, I prefer to stick to the mom’s baby registry as much as possible. She has gone through the trouble to pick out exactly what she wants and has done the research to figure out what she needs. I like to honor that work! (Here are the things I recommend adding to your baby registry!)

With that said, sometimes, you have to go “off registry.” Maybe mom hasn’t made a registry or everything has been purchased off of it… or you’re getting something from the registry and want to do something a little extra. I wanted to share some of my go-to gift ideas that might not show up on a baby registry, but that I think make thoughtful gifts.

INFANT MEDICATIONS // This is something I’ve recently started doing now that I’m a more seasoned mom. I put together a little pouch to stock the medicine cabinet. Motrin, Tylenol, nasal spray, sunscreen, diaper rash cream. Trust me, you never know when you’re going to find yourself desperate for infant Motrin with a teething baby or need allergy medication in a pinch! Gift it in a monogrammed travel pouch to make it feel extra personal.

PETITE KEEP TRUNK // For an extra meaningful gift, the Petite Keep trunks are stunning. I have one for each of my boys and they are so, so special. They’re perfect for storing mementos and trinkets from babyhood and beyond. Inside of their trunks, I have the hospital blanket + cap, outfits they come home from the hospital in, their first pairs of shoes, etc. I rave about these boxes to anyone who will listen– I love ours. My boys aren’t interested in them yet, but I do see a day in the future where it’ll be fun to go through them together and look through all the special things.

BABY BOOKS // I love giving books for gifts of all occasions. More often than not, I’m giving a book! Even when I choose something off the registry, I almost always include a book to wrap with the box or slip the card into. We love reading the books given by family members and reading the inscriptions inside, too. Hello Lighthouse and Little Blue Truck books are some of my go-tos.

HUNTER BOOTS // I was at a baby shower probably ten years ago at this point where someone gave the smallest pair of Hunter Boots available as a gift and it was a crowdpleaser. I 100% stole the idea and started doing it for all the new babies in my life. One thing that I really love about giving Hunter Boots is that they serve as darling little bookends until the baby is big enough to actually wear them. So many of my friends will send pictures of the nursery with the boots on the shelf and then a couple of years later another picture when the now-toddler finally fits into them. Highly recommend.

BOAT AND TOTE // This is usually the gift I give when baby arrives. A large zippered Boat and Tote with long handles. It’s a great “have forever” tote and I get it monogrammed with the baby’s name or last name. I have one for both of the boys and we use them all the time for traveling. (I actually keep their totes packed with essentials to make overnight trips even easier.) These totes stand the test of time and only get better the more you use them.
