THREE LOOKS FROM TUCKERNUCK

I know I tend to fall into the trap of wearing the same things the same way over and over again. Especially when I’m tired or don’t have anything particularly exciting planned, I’m more likely to reach for what I’d call a “comfort combo” rather than try something new.

One thing I want to be better about… and maybe even spend some intentional time doing, as frivolous as it may sound… is culling through my closet and putting together outfits using what I already have. I think it would give me a fresh perspective on my wardrobe and help me have a few “pre-programmed” looks ready to go. So when a last-minute invitation pops up or I’m rushing to get out the door (which, let’s be honest, is most of the time), I’ll have outfits I feel good about ready to fall back on.

Putting together this Reel for Tuckernuck was such a fun little push in that direction. I loved styling the outfits in a way that felt like me, while also experimenting a bit. (You know me… nothing too crazy!) While this was for a collaboration, the process can easily be translated into my closet– or yours if you want to do the same thing! For the campaign, I chose items from a look book and then built outfits with pieces from the website. When I’m doing this for brands, I always create collages in Canva to make sure everything is balanced. I’ll add extra pictures of shoes, multiple accessories; basically just different options to see what looks the best. To translate this into an exercise for my own closet, I think I am going to pick a handful of “staple” pieces and then try to make five or six different outfits and document with photos, which I’ll save to a folder on my phone to reference. I do something similar for vacations, but I think for everyday life it’ll be so useful.

I do think I’ll need some time to really commit to doing this, but I’ll keep you posted!

I’ve been thinking of doing a ‘shop my own closet’ challenge for myself too, it’s helpful to hear your process and how you use Canva. Excited to hear more about how this exercise goes for you!!

Love the lime green! I also love the red boat tote. Would love to see a “what’s in my bag” post for what you carry on a normal day and how you transition from one bag to another easily.
