Sharing some of the questions that are blowing up my DMs lately!!
Where is your mirror from for your daily outfits?
It’s from PB Teen. It’s so sturdy and pretty in person. High quality too. They show it online leaning against the floor, but I do think it’d be too short for that. I recommend hanging it (with anchors).
What double stroller do you have? Do you recommend a wagon over a double stroller?
I agonized over what car seat and stroller to get while pregnant with Jack. I thought the idea of having multiple strollers was so dumb. But, as always, the reality of parenthood hits and you’re humbled by what you previously thought. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a “perfect stroller.” There are strollers that work very, very well for all kinds of different family lifestyles. It’s not a one size fits all though! This is a topic that I could talk about forever, so buckle up (no pun intended).
We love the Uppababy Vista for our everyday hauling stroller. We do a lot of walking and both boys have enjoyed this stroller immensely. It’s also a workhorse. It is big and heavy, but not too heavy that it’s impossible to put in and out of the car within seconds. We didn’t convert it to a double though– which I think worked for us because our boys are 2.5 years apart. Jack doesn’t always need a stroller and he does a lot of scooting beside us. (The scooter folds– huge perk– and I will pop it in the undercarriage and Jack does the ride on occasionally.)
For travel and quick errands (like if we’re driving to the grocery store or going to the mall), we love the Nuna TRVL. I swear by it. Love it. It’s amazing.
I almost got the double Nuna TRVL, and ended up canceling the order. It didn’t end up coming out until Rory was already six months old. I kept holding out and even thought maybe we didn’t need a side by side double stroller. Baby Jogger sent us the City Mini GT2 and, well, yes I’m a convert. A side by side double is amazing. We LOVE it. Mike and I both feel very passionate about it and it’s been a nice option to have for longer walks. (We walk about a mile to preschool or to the grocery store.) My only complaint is that there isn’t a ton of storage, but we make it work. It looks huge and yet it miraculously fits through a regular doorway. People are always blown away when it fits with no problem.
And we also have a wagon. I think of everything we have, the wagon is more of a “nice to have” and not completely necessary. I wouldn’t replace a double stroller with a wagon, personally. We have the space in our garage, so it’s fine. The boys love going on wagon rides though so it’s always fun. I have never packed it in the car to take anywhere (I would always opt for the double stroller). People are very passionate about wagons and I do get the appeal, I think it’s something we could live without if we had to make cuts to our stroller roster.
What jeans do I wear?
I link all of my daily outfits every Tuesday! I go through phases where I hyperfixate on jeans and then switch months later, but you’ll see the ones I reach for the most often in my daily outfit posts. I’m also trying to keep my ShopMy updated with current jeans.
What glasses do I wear?
Also keeping an updated list of my glasses here! The ones I get asked the most about though are these!
Do you actually love the red light mask? How often do you use it?
YES. I cannot say enough amazing things about my red light mask. It has singlehandedly changed my skin for the better and given me confidence I didn’t even know was possible. Who would have thought that at 35, I’d feel the best I’ve ever felt about my skin. It’s almost shocking. I’ve had so much more fun experimenting with makeup and everything as a result now.
I use it at least every other day, usually at some point in the day when I have clean skin. (Usually after a shower in the morning or before bed.) The biggest change I’ve seen is that my skin is that it’s so even. There’s less redness and just has an overall glow.
Do the boys still share a room?
Yes! But… If Jack wants to sleep in the guest room, we let him. I thought the boys sharing a room would be some giant hurdle, but it really was seamless. They currently have different bedtimes and so Jack and I read in my bedroom or the guest room and then he scoots into his room with a night light. They somehow don’t wake each other up even if they wake up at different times. It’s been really sweet and I honestly love it as a mom. The best part is that we do a lot of playtime in the bedroom, especially in the mornings. They both have a sense of ownership over it and it feels like “theirs.” I’m not trying to wish away the passage of time, but I can’t wait to have two twin beds in there!
What’s your current workout routine?
My current routine is… move as much as possible, aiming for at least an hour a day. I listen to my body and just figure out what I’m in the mood for. I am doing a lot of walking (incline walking on the treadmill and then pushing the boys to and from school). And then I’m still obsessed with SOTO method– right now it just fits so nicely into my life. I want to do another one of the challenges! I also take some one-off classes at my local gym and then my tap class is also like an hour of straight cardio. (It’s the sweatiest I get all week, I swear.)
I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish in the past year postpartum. My pregnancy with Rory was so hard and I was on pelvic rest and couldn’t really workout at all. It was so hard on my mental health and my body also suffered. It’s nice to be on the other side of that all.
What camera do you use? How do you edit your photos?
I either use my iPhone, or my Sony 7iii, or my Sony RX100 (for flash). I am a novice photographer and an even less experienced editor, but I make do. I try to shoot the photos so I don’t need to do a ton of editing. I don’t use filters, and instead just slightly adjust brightness, contrast, and sharpness. Maybe a little temperature adjustment! On my phone, I use VSCO (I’ve used it for years and just never stopped) and on my computer I use Lightroom.
I love these Q and A posts! They remind me of the old days of blogging. Happy Monday!
